Albrecht/d.
Actually too busy to be famous

Book presentation with Peter Haury, Stuttgart

Wednesday, February 21st 2018, 6 pm

Albrecht/d’s life-long wish was to make art an implement of genuine social change. He was initially affiliated with the Happening and Fluxus Movement, becoming involved in exchanges with its most important representatives and propagating its concepts in his adopted city, Stuttgart, and via his international publication network. Before very long, however, he turned away from these heavily ritualised traditions and began to seek new forms, finding his sources in information, journalism, action, provocation, the reflection of medial realities and non-violent meditation. Within this approach, his attacks on an art industry speculating in “originals” were as important as his exploration of medial diversity in the domains of copy-collage, improvisation, music or sound; domains in which his approaches remain relevant today. He was also known by many young people as an open-minded mentor and networker. With 800 images and texts by numerous authors, the book provides, for the first time, an overview of the work of this artist who died in 2013.

The archive of the Reflection Press, Albrecht/d’s publishing house, has been in the collection of the Centre for Artists’ Publications since 2012.

Peter Haury is an artist and an active participant in a self-organised art space in Stuttgart. He is also member of the group involved in the sorting of Albrecht/d.’s estate.
