In the international collections, archives and funds of the Centre for Artists‘ Publications, photography is present in many guises – in the form of photo series, editions and printed publications. The variety of artistic tendencies encompasses conceptual art, land art and performances among others. Cavellini and Other Projects
The Italian artist Guglielmo Achille Cavellini (GAC, 1914-1990) cultivated a lively exchange with numerous artists. In the frame of his “self-historification” he published artist’s books, documents, postcards and postage stamps in very large editions. On a widespread sticker in the Italian colours he announced his centennial exhibition in Venice. In Cavellini’s honour, the Centre for Artists’ Publications presents a choice of GAC’s works from the Archive for Small Press & Communication. The exhibition is curated by Guy Schraenen. Questions of Art: Moscow Poll
Yuri Albert is one of the most consistent of Russian conceptualists. He commenced his artistic work within the unofficial Soviet cultural scene in the 1970s. Formed by experiences of self organisation in this milieu, he developed his critical and ironic reflections on the art system. In his work, Yuri Albert analyses the conditions of production and reception of art. He is interested in the relationships between artwork and interpretation, image and text, visibility and invisibility, original and copy. [more...]

Archive Slivers: Women, Men, Power

An exhibition by the Arbeitskreises Bremer Archive
This year's "Tag der Archive" (Archive Day) coincides with international women's day. For this reason it focuses on gender issues, under the motto "Women, Men, Power". This group show involving 25 archives in Bremen will present a selection of exhibits including posters, individual biographical documents, record covers, films, TV broadcasts, interviews, literature, and more. Grouped according to themes like work/economy, education, media, arts/culture or sexuality, the works illustrate in many ways the relationship between the sexes, identify power structures and show the evolution of these structures.[more...]
